Starting in 2016 Burncoat Robotics started several FIRST LEGO League teams. These teams are open to all students in the Burncoat area who are aged 9 to 14. In the fall the team meets once a week to work on their robot and then another day a week to work on their project.
Each year a new game is released with a theme. The game incorporates elements of the theme that the robot must be built and programmed to accomplish to score points. When not working on the robot the teams will be working on a project related to the theme. At the competition they must present this project to a group of judges.
The teams take on a few of the traditions of the high school team including their names: Ruby Red Reapers, Blue Reapers, and Gold Reapers. They also always include LEGO fence on their robots.
